Supporting Your Teens' Seamless Transition into Adulthood

...Through Discovering Who They Are, Nurturing Their Natural Talents and Gifts, and Learning Their Next Steps.

Teen-Led Entrepreneurship Community Hubs is a project created to support older world schooling teens (16+) and young adults in their transition into empowered adulthood while maintaining links with their current lifestyle and what is familiar - travelling and living out in the world.

Together we can give them what they naturally crave for - community support, positive relationships, strong bonds with like-minded peers, and free self-expression.

Everything while figuring out who they are and what is next for them.

How It Works

Mobile Community Hubs that Promote Independence and Co-Creation

Teenagers and their families live together in one location - a teen-friendly spot that promotes community co-creation, accessibility, and independence.

The duration of each hub is usually between 1 to 3 moths, although it may be longer if possible. During this time, teenagers and young adults bond and create a meaningful and robust community together.

These mobile community hubs are teen-led where most of the decisions are taken collectively by young people with minimum facilitation and guidance from us and their parents.

Teenage participants tap into local opportunities while co-creating with other teenagers, manage a day-to-day life of the community, offer leadership to others, and embark on an entrepreneurial pathway if they choose so.

When the time in one location is over, they can decide to move to the next location and continue their work together there.

To minimise disruption in your family life, maximise grounding for your teens, and promote community spirit, we envision slow travelling between countries and hub locations which are close to each other or within the same region.

What makes this project unique and different from other hubs?

The idea was born from our teenage son’s genuine need to create a community together with like-minded peers.

A special place which they could build together and where they could stay longer.

A place to ground, a place where they could all belong, discover their talents and envision their future.

This project is very personal - its main goal is to offer our son, and other teenagers who share similar needs, a safe and inspiring platform to grow and enter into passion-driven and vision-oriented adulthood.

But our hubs are different - they are all about creating a community, forming strong bonds, exploring one's talents and natural gifts and figuring out one’s pathway ahead while doing all the exciting things that the world and our current location have to offer.

FREE COMMUNITY HUB

To make sure we keep the community accessible and inclusive we decided to offer the core of the project for FREE.

This means that everyone can come and live with us, and everyone can participate in creating a robust and vibrant mobile community. Perhaps what matters most is sharing similar values and beliefs - because only then can we make it work and turn it into something truly special.

When you decide to join in, your teenage children will be welcomed to socialise with all participants without any limitations. And they will be able to take part in our Teen-Led Interest-Based Social Clubs as part of the FREE concept.

If you wish to enrol them for our specially designed Entrepreneurial Education Pathway that will run throughout the hub, this will require purchasing access to this premium program.

You will read more about our unique Entrepreneurial Pathway below.

Please note that we do not focus or provide organised tours, structured activities, accommodation, or cultural immersion events as part of our hubs. These of course can be arranged and organised separately by teenagers themselves together with the entire community - as part of their learning experience!

Our main focus is to assist teenagers in shaping their own pathways ahead with confidence and being fully aware of their unique assets and talents, and knowing how to best use them to live fulfilling and prosperous lives.

UNIQUE LEARNING FRAMEWORK FOR UNSCHOOLERS

To help your teenage girls and boys enhance their learning experience during their stay, and to further guide them on their world-schooling journey, each community hub offers a unique, locally contextualised Learning Framework.

Such framework will help Teen Unschoolers and Self-Directed Learners tap into their natural talents and seize the opportunities that local contexts offer. And they will promote independence, collaboration, and leadership spirit among your teens too.

Please read more about this framework below.

Future-Oriented Educational Framework

Our hubs offer a specially crafted Leadership Framework that has been divided into 6 Key Focus Areas. All these areas are particularly important for older teenagers (16+) at this stage of their lives.

Six Key Focus Areas:

1. Me & My Talents

2. Community Building

3. Leadership & Teamwork

4. Entrepreneurship & Mission

5. Positive Relationships

6. Personal Health & Wellbeing

These Key Focus Areas will be supported throughout the entire duration of the hub through three different pathways:

- Entrepreneurial Pathway

- teen-governed weekly Interest Clubs

- location-related Cultural Immersion Theme

The Leadership Framework will be embedded in daily activities, Interest Clubs, Discussion Groups, Weekly Missions and Challenges, Community Building Activities, and Self-Reflection Tools. Additionally, young participants will have a chance to expand on these 6 Key Focus Areas through outings, exploration, trips and together-time planned and organised by themselves in their free time.

Entrepreneurial Pathway

For families and young people who are looking to receive more tailor-made targeted support we offer a Premium Option - an educational pathway that guides young people towards entrepreneurship and leadership.

This special educational pathway is the highlight of the hub and has been especially created to nurture young people’s interest in business world, help them understand how to enter the entrepreneurial path, what opportunities they can take advantage of and how to use their natural talents, their ideas and passion and turn it into a fulfilling and profitable venture.

This thread runs throughout the hub but is fun and gentle enough to support relaxed and creative experience for all participants even those teenagers who are not very much into business.

Through empowering guidance, our hubs help young bright minds tap into their vast life experience and use their unique talents to pioneer their pathway ahead and create a new world.

VISITING LOCAL BUSINESSES

The core of the project is  based on weekly visits to local businesses, small and bigger ones, which serve as authentic case studies, experiencing how they operate, discussing the business models and even interviewing the owners and staff to hear their stories.

Participating teens will then work in teams on case-study related projects to further explore, evaluate, create, design, brainstorm and reinvent approaches, business ideas, product offers, etc.

 PRACTICAL BUSINESS CURRICULUM

During the entire duration of each hub your teenagers will cover aspects such as:

- customer experience,

- different modes of running business such as freelancing, franchising, consulting

- creating an offer, product M.V.O

- sustainability and ethics in business,

- channeling one’s own voice through business,

- Expert vs Visionary business model

- quality control

-  scale and impact

- Mission and Soul oriented business

- addressing world's problems through innovative business ideas

Young people will get a chance to tap to the teachings of the world’s greatest and most successful names in business as well as unique mission-oriented entrepreneurs- T. Harv Eker, Tony Robbins, Vishen Lakhiani, Sam Ovens, Robert  & Kim Kiyosaki, Lisa Nichols, Ivanka Trump, Beth Katherine, Jaqui Sive, Carol Tuttle and many more!

PORTFOLIO-BASED APPROACH

During the entire hub young people will build their own portfolio of ideas, hand-picked potential business concepts, strengths, talents and superpowers and future pathways and opportunities that best reflect who they are and what they want to achieve. At the end of the hub each participant will leave will such portfolio as a tool to help them create with confidence and shape their future ahead. Self-reflection and evaluation will be at the core of Portfolio Building Process that young  people will engage in.

This unique Entrepreneurial Pathway has been designed with unschooling teenagers in mind by professional educators experienced in training, coaching and mentoring young bright minds.

It will be very practical and hands-on but also fun and relaxed - just like unschoolers like it!

Interest Clubs

These self-governed interest-based clubs will not only aim at exploring passions and interests, but will offer your teenagers great opportunity to manage day-to-day operations of their clubs, and decide about their format, structure, content and flow through teamwork and collaboration.

Examples of the clubs: Sports & Fitness, Book & Music, Dance, Public Speaking, Politics & Current Affairs, Photography, How to Solve World's Biggest Problems, Arts & Crafts, Science & Technology.

Cultural Immersion Pathway

Taking advantage of the local reality and the environment, as well as the cultural and historical heritage of the location, our hubs offer holistic learning experiences that will help participating teenagers immerse in the local community through special projects, outings, missions, or events. Every hub will focus on something slightly different - whether it’s history, cuisine, unique geography, art, culture, sports, or the outdoor opportunities.

Young people will be able to incorporate these aspects into their own community as they wish. For example, if the hub is located in an ancient town, we will offer additional exposure to this context by visiting ruins and historical places, and completing missions and challenges that will help your teens understand it experientially.

Decision Making & Independence

Teen-Led Community Hubs (The Abodes) are based on the principles of Self-Directed Personalised Learning - with life and learning goals emerging from young people’s current needs, interests, and individual journeys.

The entire community is managed and ran by teens and young adults with minimum facilitation from parents and adults.

The Abodes are not be based on structured activities or classes, but instead they offer a reliable and sustainable framework that can be further expanded by young people. This includes regular meet-ups, interest-based groups, projects, outings, and adventures created when and as needed.

To enhance the self-directed learning process, we provide a unique educational framework to support young people on their journey to independence. This framework is designed to help them tap to their natural talents and eventually start managing a day-to-day community life on their own.

This way we help teenagers become fully self-reliant and establish a strong sense of empowerment and responsibility while feeling safe and supported by their parents and the community.

When you book a place for your family in our hub, you are getting access to our specially crafted Leadership Framework that has been divided into 6 Key Focus Areas that are particularly important for older teenagers (16+) at this stage of their lives.

This learning framework will be independently covered by each participant, while the hub will serve as an empowering learning environment where like-minded teenagers will be able to share this inspiring journey together.

All educational resources, projects and missions will be accessed and released via our online platform, and all teenage participants will complete these missions together with their peers in the real world through taking part in meaningful experiences.

All participants will be offered continuous support, guidance, feedback and direction from us and the entire community.

Creating A New Model for Future Communities

By helping our older teens establish sustainable communities now, we are creating a blueprint for future worldschooling communities.

Who Is This Community For

Families with 16+ Teenage Unschoolers, World-Schoolers, Self-Directed Learners, and Free-Range Teens

  • This kind of community will most likely appeal to world schooling teens who are not planning to go back to college, university, work or settle back in their own country, but to those life-long unschoolers and self-directed learners who are in the process of figuring out their next steps.

  • Many older unschooled teens may not know what to do next and how to create their next chapters in their life taking advantage of their unschooling journey and their life achievements so far.

  • Teen-Led Community Hubs are created to help young people continue their learning the way they have always done it, which is an unschooling and self-directed pathway, with confidence that this kind of learning will help them achieve their dreams, live successful life, and create a passion and mission-oriented career or business.

  • Our unique hubs focus on world-schooled teenagers who are craving meaningful relationships, who would prefer to share their lives with like-minded people, build long-lasting bonds, and are ready to step in to co-create with others.

  • Travelers' Abodes are meant to offer a sense of grounding, rooting and comfort that young people may miss while travelling for long periods of time.

  • Teenagers who demonstrate strong entrepreneurial spirit and are eagerly seeking to create their own businesses or projects

  • Mission-oriented passionate young people who would like to significantly contribute to the world with their unique talents and assets

Location

Vibrant Teen-Led and Vision-Oriented Hubs in different parts of the world!

The idea is to create hubs in reliable and teenage-friendly spots where participants could easily stay continuously for a period 1-3 months, or even longer if possible, and build a true community where they could create together.

When it's time, the community will move from one hub to another, usually within the same region of the world to maintain continuity and smooth transition.

Teenagers and their families can travel between these hubs together and continuously experience a similar quality of lifestyle, connections with their peers, familiarity with an additional layer of adventure, and new opportunities that the locations and the local communities offer.

PRIORITISING YOUNG PEOPLE'S NEEDS

We make sure that the locations we choose as well as the experiences and activities we offer have a potential to satisfy the needs of young people, nurture their curiosity, and expand their natural leadership and entrepreneurial spirit.

Combining simplicity of life that world-schoolers particularly appreciate with opportunities that the modern world offers is the key to ensuring that young people are ready to lead the way and step into their future with confidence.

This way they will be able to propose and pioneer new holistic and future-oriented pathways and lifestyles - for your teenage children and for generations to come.

World-Schoolers Pioneering New Pathways Ahead!

Our hubs gather bright young minds and through empowering guidance help them tap into their amazing life experiences and unique talents to pioneer the path ahead to create a new world.

Worldschoolers are best equipped to shape this new world, to offer innovative and effective solutions to worlds’ biggest problems - because they truly see the bigger picture and understand the reality of local communities around the world. Their open-mindedness and unbiased attitude allow them to bring a fresh perspective to the table and offer pathways, approaches and solutions that have not been explored before.

To become conscious and confident creators, to fully bloom and take full advantage of their vast life experience, today's teenagers need empowering guidance and support. They need an educational pathway which is tailor-made to their needs, and which truly understands them as young individuals, nomads and self-directed life-long learners.

This kind of support is necessary to boost young people’s confidence and trust in their own journey, and show them that they are here to pioneer the path ahead to create a new world.

This is exactly why we have come up with the Teen-Led Entrepreneurial Community Building Hubs - to gather together amazing young Pioneers and kick start and motivate them to confidently create, respond to their calling, maximise on their talents, and tap into their enormous life experience.

What Makes a Location Teen-Friendly

To create a sustainable and safe community for teenagers, there is a number of things that should be in place so that it's easy for young people to navigate and take advantage of the location.

  • Access to bikes, e-scooters, grab or uber and public transport helps teens navigate the hub independently.

  • Walkable small towns help young people stay connected and access places of interest with ease.

  • Being surrounded by nature like parks, forests, seas, oceans or beaches helps teenagers stay active, balanced, and relaxed. It also boosts their spirit of adventure and exploration.

  • Access to culture, entertainment and modern infrastructure such as museums, galleries, bookshops and cinemas helps inspire young minds to explore interests and pursue passions.

  • Local activities and classes such as yoga, martial arts, dance, sports or arts nurture self-growth and the community spirit.

  • Opportunities to be part of the local culture, participate in local events, meet local people, inspire and get inspired help strengthen the community and expand young minds.

  • Safe places and friendly locals are a strong foundation to fostering independence and building connections.

  • Great value for money including accommodation, food, access to culture, local events and entertainment help teenagers create a wholesome and fulfilling lifestyle.

When choosing the location for our Teen Abodes, we always want to make sure it meets the above criteria.

Last Minute Hubs - Going with the Flow of Life

As a traveling family we go with the flow. To honour who we are and to timely respond to our calling, we expect most of our hub locations to be revealed last minute - usually max 2-3 months ahead and sometimes even less.

As we mentioned before, our Teen-led Community Hubs is a personal family project to help our son and other like-minded teenagers create meaningful long-lasting relationships and community while worldschooling and to figure out their path ahead.

WORLDSCHOOLING AS A TRANSFORMATIONAL PROCESS

Worldschooling is our life-style, for us though, it’s not only about travelling and visiting places. Most of all, it’s a journey, a meaningful and a very deep personal process that takes us from location to location only to help us learn and grow as individuals. So, we usually never plan too much ahead.

While we create long-lasting frameworks that help us feel safe, rooted and comfortable, we are very spontaneous and we respond to the flow of life, to our inner calling, to our hearts.

We go where and when we are called and drawn to go and it turns out there is always a good reason behind it (which we usually learn much later). To honour who we are and to timely respond to our inner calling, we expect most of our hub locations to be revealed last minute - usually max 2-3 months ahead and sometimes even less.

We  prefer to travel sustainably - for us it means staying in the same world region for  longer, usually for a year or more.

So, it's easy to predict where we will be next! Usually somewhere nearby, in a neighbouring country or within a 2-3 hours flight reach.

FLEXIBLE BUT RELIABLE FRAMEWORK

We know there’s many families like us, so if you are not much of a long-term planners, by all means do join us - it will be a smooth sailing together- no pressure, no agendas, no deadlines, no timetables, no super busy days…

Instead gently but excitingly flowing together to our next adventures with reliable but flexible framework in place to keep us all comfortable, grounded and inspired to create!

Who knows where we are going to be next! (Most likely in the same region to keep travels sustainable and easy ;)

About Julius

The Author of the Idea!

Julius, who's been world-schooled all his life, is currently 17. Unschooler, self-directed learner, passionate about piano, fitness and dance. Exceptionally talented writer, great motivational speaker, and nature lover.

He enjoys deep conversations about life, is full of creative ideas, and he is keen to start his own business, perhaps with fellow worldschoolers. He’s been dreaming about creating a Teen-led Community where living together for longer with like-minded teenagers would allow teens enough time to bond, create strong community, share their interests, build something meaningful, explore their entrepreneurial spirit, and travel the world together.

Julius has called his project "Travellers’ Abode" - a Teen-Led Community for worldschoolers. It's his dream project that he would love to co-create with fellow travelling teens!

Our Family

We have been world-schooling and unschooling for 17 years now, which is our son’s whole life.

This lifestyle is the only pathway Julius knows and the one that has helped him grow into a very mature and open-minded individual.

We are slow travellers, which means we stay in one place for 2-3 months, or even longer. Travelling this way gives us enough time to settle down, ground in a place, feel at home, understand the local community, and make friends.

We have travelled across and lived in more than 25 countries where we have made friends with locals, lived their lifestyle, participated in local events and celebrations,  tuned into different flavours of community life around the globe. We’ve had a unique opportunity to  appreciate distinct cultural flavours and admire their impact on everyday life, work and play.

Throughout all these years, as a family, we have collected an immense amount of experience in the world. But perhaps the most profound realisation was discovering who we really are and how we want and prefer to live, express ourselves, build relationships, and share our talents with the world.

About Us - the Parents

We're world-schooling and unschooling parents, educators by passion and profession, dedicated to making a transformational change in education and learning on a global scale. Authors of The Sustainable Future-Oriented Education Model.

Our personal stories motivated us to pursue a career in education to look for alternative child-centred educational models that celebrate a child as an individual.

Our professional pathway progressed from teachers, teacher trainers, nursery and school principals, to university lecturers and EYPS and NVQ assessors-evaluators at university level and for vocational education in the UK.

We've worked with young children, teenagers and adults, inspected Early Childhood settings for quality and safety, and created various children-oriented support groups and communities.

We specialise in child-led self-directed learning and play that empower children to discover their talents, become sole creators of their learning journeys, and fully express themselves as individuals.

As training content designers, we've created Natural Born Leaders.org to help parents and teachers offer holistic child-centred and future-oriented education anywhere in the world.

Creating New Blueprint

HELPING YOUNG PEOPLE FULFIL THEIR DREAMS!

By bringing Teen-led communities to the world we are supporting the emerging of New Paradigm. This new blueprint and a model of living where freedom to travel and live anywhere in the world is combined with innovation and strong community spirit.  It will help redefine the way people create their lifestyle on this planet.

Today, the generation of teenage worldschoolers, who have profound understanding and experience of the world, have the biggest chances of making a difference, to initiate and continue what we have started.

And this is the very reason why we are helping young people to bring this amazing idea to life! Yes, it has started with their dream, their concept and their enthusiasm. As parents and educators we are committed to help them make it happen.

FAQ

  • My child is not 16 yet, can they join the hub as a participant?

The hub has been designed to address older teenagers’ developmental needs and to help them transition into adulthood. The nature of the activities offered during the hub has been planned as self-directed teenage-led community, and it will appeal to children who are mature and ready to explore them and step into independence. This may include offering leadership to others, planning and managing daily schedules and outings, activities with minimum guidance, and spending time with older teenagers. This may also mean attending group meetings and gatherings without adult supervision, travelling between places on their own or with peers (with parents’ consent). The educational pathway will include topics and content such as entrepreneurship, business models, marketing, self-development, politics and current affairs, sustainability, solving world's biggest problems, etc. If you and your teenager feel that he/she/they is/are ready and excited to participate in such an event, please reach out to us at [email protected] to discuss the best options to include your teenage kids and your family too.

  • I have more children and not all of them are teenagers. Can all of my children join the hub?

Our community hubs are created specifically with older teenagers in mind (+16) to support them in gaining more independence, and foster seamless transition into adulthood. The entire program is set up with this goal in mind and while we encourage mixed-age groups, the activities offered during the hub will not be appropriate for younger children. However, you are more than welcome to bring all your family and stay in the location where the hub is organised and enjoy all the opportunities that the location offers for your entire family and your younger children too. We organise weekly meetings for all participating families and this serves as an excellent opportunity for younger children to make friends too. Additionally, as a courtesy to families with young children, we offer age appropriate resources and guidelines for parents to maximise and effectively organise your time during your stay in the hub location. These resources are included in the hub participation fee.

  • Is the hub a good fit if my children follow a specific curriculum and have structured study sessions during the day?

We organise community hubs with unschoolers and self-directed learners in mind. This means that we do not follow any specific curriculum or offer organised adult-led goal-oriented structured classes or activities or any kind of academic classes. If you feel your child would benefit from taking part in an unschooling experience and being the authors of their learning journeys, and you think they are ready to learn this way, you are welcome to join the hub. If your child needs specific study sessions, you will be expected to organise them on your own and cover all the necessary expenses.

  • Why is the hub so long?

We intend our community hubs to run between 1 to 3 months in one location. As the main goal of each hub is to create a community based on strong bonds and help young people ground and build positive relationships together, staying in one location longer is most conducive for such needs. Usually the first month is spent on exploring the area and getting to know each other. Then the remaining time is naturally focused on deepening bonds, building and shaping the community, adjusting, adopting, and exploring together. Families are welcome to join our hubs any time, but to maximise the benefits for your teenagers we recommend staying for at least one month.

  • What if we want to leave earlier?

You can stay as long as you wish and leave at any time that suits your family needs and plans. We recommend allowing at least one month to allow for the intended learning and bonding processes to occur and to maximise benefits for your teenage children. You can extend your enrolment at any time but if you decide to leave earlier, we will not be able to offer a refund.

  • Do you offer tours, structured activities and dedicated learning sessions?

We do not offer schedules based on learning sessions, tours and adult-led structured activities as it's an unschooling community, so we prefer to keep a flexible and easily adjustable framework for teenagers to work with. Special activities, workshops, outings and tours can become part of participants’ regular experiences and planned together as part of the community building efforts. They will be paid separately by participants and are not included in the community fee.
